Thanks to Arthur Linvill and his family, Linvilla Orchards in Media, PA has been producing and selling fresh fruits, vegetables, and baked goods for nearly a century. Today, the 300-acre farm entertains the Philadelphia-area community year-round.
Linvilla grows a variety of produce, including 25 different types of apples, 6 kinds of strawberries, 7 kinds of blueberries, and 34 kinds of peaches. The abundance of these fruits makes them popular “pick-your-own” fruits in the summer months, along with blackberries, grapes, pears, tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, and sweet corn.
Bakers supply hungry customers with fresh breads, pastries, and pies. Pie flavors depend on the season, as the ingredients are harvested straight from the fields. The market also sells Pennsylvania gourmet specialty items such as honey, maple syrup, pickles, relishes, and fruit spreads.
Several festivals and activities bring the farm to life throughout the year, such as concerts, farm tours, pony rides, and birthday parties. Special events include Pumpkinfest and National Pie Day. However, no trip to Linvilla Orchards would be complete without stopping by the farm market and filling up on the local goodies.
The relaxing atmosphere of Linvilla invites visitors to explore the natural beauty of Pennsylvania outside of Philadelphia, and the abundance of fresh produce and baked goods keeps them coming back regularly.
