Old City Coffee

The city’s oldest and most beloved coffee roaster

K. Ciappa for GPTMC

Founded as a one-person operation by Ruth Isaac in 1984, Old City Coffee has grown into one of the city’s most well regarded roasteries. In addition to the original Church Street location, Old City operates two stands in the Reading Terminal Market, where the roasting is now done onsite.

All locations boast fresh-roasted Arabica beans, brewed coffee and espresso drinks, plus fresh-baked breads and pastries. Having netted accolades from local and national press, Old City was at the forefront of coffee’s first wave, and continues well into its third to produce quality caffeinated beverages.

An online and wholesale business sells a wide variety of signature bulk teas, coffees, gift baskets and brewing accessories to the public. Old City Coffee also hosts specialty tasting events for both connoisseurs and the coffee-curious.
