Food Day is an opportunity to celebrate, learn, cook, eat, volunteer, and connect with Philadelphia’s food and farming resources. Because Philadelphia has an incredibly strong food community, we decided to extend Philadelphia Food Day to two whole weeks of programming!
Learn more about Philadelphia Food Day events by consulting the sortable calendar below. You can also find Food Day on Twitter using the #PhilaFoodDay.
Philadelphia Food Day is in partnership with National Food Day, being spearheaded by the Center for Science in the Public Interest.

Read More » In 2008, The Anselma Farmers and Artisan Market Association established a weekly, seasonal market on the grounds of The Mill at Anselma, a National Historic Landmark in Chester Springs, Pennsylvania. In collaboration with The Mill at Anselma and Maysie's Farm Conservation Center, we believe our market continues to benefit to the communities of northeast Chester County as it brings together a growing number of local farmers in an open air environment to provide fresh, local, and seasonal foods and products to local consumers along the economic spectrum. The Mill at Anselma provides a perfect setting to teach people the value local food production and farming, as well as to connect them with our area’s rich agricultural heritage. Our belief is that the local farms, farmlands, and farming as a way of life in Chester County, Pennsylvania can only be preserved by educating the fast-growing population and creating a community in which children and adults can learn the value of preparing and eating quality, locally produced foods and foodstuffs. Summer Market - May 25 through October 26, 2011 As in previous years, the Market will be open every Wednesday from 2:00 - 6:00 pm in The Mill’s front field and will feature locally grown and organic produce, great food, and hand-crafted goods. Read More » POP has declared Saturday, October 22 to be Philadelphia Orchard Day! We're encouraging Philadelphians to look up and look down for the perennial food resources our city has to offer. There’s a bounty of figs, apples, plums, and more hiding in plain site in every neighborhood. In the last three years alone, POP has planted almost 1000 fruiting trees, bushes, and vines with churches, schools, community organizations, and urban farms. On October 22, POP’s community orchard partners will be hosting events and celebrations at sites across the city bringing attention to these hidden treasures. Events will include orchard plantings, tours, volunteer opportunities, and harvest festivals and will feature fresh, local fruit! See phillyorchards.org for locations and details, or contact Kim Jordan at 215-680-7468. |
