We’ve long extolled the virtues of the humanely and sustainably raised beef, pork and chicken that can be found at many of the farms surrounding Philadelphia. We are a fortunate bunch to live in such close proximity to high quality food. And, with the recent announcement that our friends at COOK will now be a pick-up location for the amazing products grown and produced at Wyebrook Farm, things just keep getting better for Philly’s local food scene.

Beginning Tuesday, June 19th and continuing every Tuesday throughout the summer, city dwellers will be able to pick-up Wyebrook Farm products at COOK, located just off Rittenhouse Square.

It’s simple to order and there is no minimum purchase amount. Visit Wyebrook’s product and price list to see what’s available and send all orders via email to info@wyebrookfarm.com and indicate “Cook Pick Up” in the subject line. Then, go to COOK between 12 – 3PM on Tuesdays, meet Farmer Dean and pick up your order. All orders must be placed by Monday at 3PM for Tuesday pick-up.

While at COOK, be sure to check out their incredible supply of cookbooks and kitchen gear, we bet you’ll leave with more than just sustainably raised meat! For more information, visit the COOK website.

And while having easy access to Farmer Dean’s incredible meat is great, we also highly recommend a trip to the farm in Chester County. Nothing beats diving into a delectable Wyebrook Burger while taking in the farm’s beautiful 355-acres. It is Dean’s goal for people to understand where and how their food is produced and he welcomes visitors to Wyebrook every Saturday and Sunday to shop in the farm’s on-site market and cafe.

Wyebrook Farm To Open Full Service On-Site Butcher Shop And Cafe, April 28th

Monday, April 16th, 2012

We’ve told you before about the great work of former bond-trader turned farmer, Dean Carlson, and his vision for a sustainable food supply. Carlson does his part by pasture raising pork, beef and poultry at Wyebrook Farm, an oasis of sustainable agriculture just 45 minutes from downtown Philadelphia.

Over the past year, Carlson has opened the farm to the public during both a pig and steer roast and again to sell Thanksgiving turkeys. Now, however, the farm will be open weekly to customers via their new Wyebrook Farm Market, housed in a historic 18th-century barn.

The market officially opens Saturday, April 28th at 9AM and will carry beef, pork, chicken and eggs, all raised on the farm. The Farm Store will offer hand-butchered meats and house-cured bacon, sausages, hot dogs and charcuterie. Available cuts will be listed on the Wyebrook website along with recipes from their on-site chef, Janet Crandall. The Farm Store will also carry organic vegetables and cheeses from several other local Chester County farms.

Additionally, the Cafe will offer prepared foods (like the Wyebrook burger!) that can be enjoyed in the courtyard behind the barn, allowing customers to take in sweeping views of the farm’s bucolic 355 acres.

For those of you looking to develop a deeper connection with your food, we can think of no better place than Wyebrook Farm. And, if you still need more convincing, check out the short video we shot at the farm last fall, it truly is an amazingly beautiful place.

Congratulations Farmer Dean!
