If you’ve been waiting for the right moment to have happy hour at Molly Malloy’s in Reading Terminal, then today’s the day! Philadelphia Brewing Company has crafted a specialty beer, Engine 1892 Market Stout, to celebrate Reading Terminal Market’s 120th anniversary. Molly Malloy’s will begin pouring the stout today, Friday, February 10th at 4PM.

This is one heck of a local collaboration as the beer also contains Belgian dark chocolate from the Market’s own Chocolate by Mueller. A specially-designed beer tap handle will be installed at Molly Malloy’s and the beer will be available until the end of February.

Engine 1892 will also be featured at the “Valentine to the Market” gala taking place on February 25th at Reading Terminal (hint, hint – get your tickets now!).

Be Reading Terminal Market’s Valentine

One of Philadelphia’s greatest assets is most definitely the 120-year old Reading Terminal Market. When out-of-town guests come calling, the Terminal is one of our first stops in showing off Philadelphia’s bustling food scene.

For those not in-the-know, the Market is home to more than 80 merchants. On any given day one can find an eclectic array of fresh baked Amish goods, produce direct from the field, unusual spices, free range meats and poultry, flowers, ethnic foods, and some of the best sandwiches this city has to offer (hey DiNic’s, we’re talking about you!).

Reading Terminal is also an independent non-profit organization that maintains itself via rent paid by the vendors and through it’s own fundraising. To that end, we are calling all market-lovers to put their money where their mouth is and help the Market raise funds at their annual Valentine to the Market Gala Fundraiser, Saturday, February 25th.

Your ticket to this ‘Black Tie Optional’ event includes live entertainment on two stages; delicious and diverse foods and desserts from more than 25 of the markets most revered merchants; 2 open bars featuring specialty cocktails, beer, wine and a 120th Anniversary Commemorative Beer from Philadelphia Brewing Company. The event will also serve as an unveiling of the Market’s most recent renovations.

Tickets are available for purchase via Reading Terminal’s website. VIP Tickets ($300/person) include entrance at 7PM to a VIP pre-party that includes food, drink, a special commemorative gift and access to the mystery ingredient cook-off by top local chefs. Regular tickets ($125) gain access to the event beginning at 8PM.
