And Chang recently took to Twitter to challenge Questlove to a fried chicken battle on Questlove’s show, Late Night With Jimmy Fallon. Questlove happily accepted.
The stakes are high: if Questlove wins, he’ll get a spread in Chang’s magazine, Lucky Peach, and his “Love Drumstick” will be served at Chang’s restaurant, Momofuku. If Chang wins, Questlove will have to wear a chicken suit on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon.
There may be a panel of celebrity judges involved.
As for the chicken itself, Questlove serves “drumsticks,” naturally, gourmet pieces of Creole-seasoned, buttermilk fried chicken, sourced locally from Lancaster County. Momofuku has two varieties of whole fried chickens: southern-style and Korean-style. The southern-style chicken is fried with a buttermilk and old bay batter. The Korean-style is triple-fried and served with a light spicy glaze.
The battle is set for this Thursday, April 12. Late Night comes on at 12:35.
No idea how it’s going to turn out. But it should be fun to watch.
