Philadelphia Celebrates 1st National Food Day, October 15-29

Instead of just celebrating for one day, Philly is celebrating for two weeks! More than 50 Philadelphia area organizations are observing the first-ever National Food Day from October 15-29, 2011.

Food Day (October 24) was spearheaded by The Center for Food Science in the Public Interest as a national campaign to educate America about consuming affordable, healthier food that is both sustainably and humanely produced.

Philadelphia Food Day festivities include educational and family friendly events, farmers’ markets, dining specials, food & drink festivals and much more! During the Food Day celebration, Philadelphians are encouraged to delight in the advent of autumn by indulging in fresh and sustainable local eats, learning how to prepare healthier meals, connecting with local food resources, or even volunteering with local emergency food providers. Make every day Food Day!
