Thompson grew up on a Virginia farm and earned a degree in biology before apprenticing at a brauhaus in Germany. She started her career at Troegs before moving on to Victory, a German-style craft brewery in Downingtown.
In her current position, she oversees quality assurance in the eight fermentation tanks responsible for such favorites as Hopdevil, Prima Pils and Storm King Stout, with an output of over 42,000 barrels a year. For Thompson, brewing great beer is more than a fulltime obsession—her husband, Larry Horowitz, is a top-level brewer at Iron Hill in West Chester.
