Locavore Brunch: Mica

The picturesque neighborhood of Chestnut Hill truly is a locavore hot spot. Not only are there great independent shops and businesses that line Germantown Avenue, but the Hill’s dining scene is growing quickly. Since early last spring, three new restaurants have opened (with another slated by end of 2011), including Chip Roman’s Mica.

“Since opening Mica we’ve received a tremendous response from our guests, so it was a natural next step to add brunch,” says Chef Roman. “For our brunch menu we’re preparing the best possible versions of classic brunch dishes, using top-quality and local products such as, sustainably raised eggs, meat and produce.”

Mica’s brunch menu offers up traditional options like Toad in a Hole as well as a delicious take on steak and eggs that features slow roasted short ribs. The cozy atmosphere is only enhanced by the thoughtful plates that emerge from Roman’s kitchen. And don’t worry, Mica also has variety of delicious cocktails to enjoy alongside your locally sourced eggs including a seasonal Sangria, a signature Bloody Mary and Mimosas.

Brunch is offered on Sunday only from 10:30AM – 2PM. So, brave the adorable cobblestone lined streets and plan a (very) short trip to Chestnut Hill. Brunch is a great way to become introduced to Roman’s skill and talent in the kitchen, especially if you haven’t had the good fortune to eat dinner at either Mica or Roman’s other famously delicious Blackfish, in Conshohocken.

*Also note, Mica’s Artichoke agnolotti was just named by Food&Wine as one of the top 10 restaurant dishes of 2011. Congratulations, Chef!
