House of Tea

A Fabric Row institution, this tea shop has everything you need for a perfect cup

This iconic tea shop in Queen Village was opened in 1993 by the erstwhile clown, Frank Lloyd Wright-trained architect, pastry chef and magician Nathaniel Litt.

Though its colorful founder passed away in 1997, the store remains a favorite among tea aficionados, carrying over 300 varieties of fresh loose tea sourced from around the world—from Blue Eyes to Silver Tip Green Pekoe and all manner of organic and herbal leaves in between.

The House, now operated with great expertise by Litt’s daughter Jessica (herself a onetime circus elephant rider), also proffers a full line of teapots and accessories from every conceivable culture, and plenty of great gift ideas for tea-lovers.
