Located inside the Cira Centre in University City, Chef Jose Garces’ J.G. Domestic is a beautiful homage to the natural elements.
Opened in late 2010, the restaurant is housed inside an expansive array of wooden beams, filled with rustic-white chairs surrounding tables that have skinny trees burgeoning through them. During the daytime, J.G. Domestic bathes entirely in natural light, which vividly illuminates the deep-blue glass jars, fresh green plants and cooking supplies that line the perimeter of the restaurant. The tranquil and natural décor undeniably speaks volumes about J.G. Domestic’s cuisine and sustainable mission.
Sourcing food from some of the best organic American farmers, including locals from the Philadelphia area, J.G. Domestic brings exceptional artisanal American fare to its patrons.
The restaurant features bites like Local Asparagus Flatbread, topped with fresh ricotta, cipollini onion, pancetta & farm egg and East Coast Halibut prepared with fresh watercress and La Quercia prosciutto. Recently awarded “Best of Philly 2011” Dish by Philadelphia magazine, the Wild Boar Chop is also a must-try!
