The most fundamental tool for self-education and empowerment, the dictionary, is the single most requested book by incarcerated people across the country.
However, there are never enough dictionaries on hand to satisfy even a portion of the requests.
To address this dearth of access to basic educational resources within prison facilities, the Philadelphia-based nonprofit Books Through Bars has created The Dictionary Fund.
Join Books Through Bars at Dock Street Brewery on Wednesday, February 22 at 8:30 p.m. for delicious locally brewed craft beer, gourmet pizza and live music from local bands Sour Mash and Cask & Co.
A $10 donation gets you a a beer and a slice of pizza AND a dictionary. Every additional $4 donation allows Books Through Bar to purchase another dictionary.
Help the organization reach their goal of 250 dictionaries (donations of paperback dictionaries are welcome as well).
