Chaddsford Winery

The Brandywine Valley’s favorite vineyard

B. Krist for GPTMC

Bring your own picnic and enjoy the charming country atmosphere of this Chester County vineyard. They offer tours, tastings and sales of premium regional wines. Friday nights means outdoor concerts that feature a range of music, from jazz and swing to big band and oldies. The Brandywine River Blues Festival on Memorial Day opens the season, and the Labor Day Weekend Jazz Festival wraps it up.

It started more than two decades ago as a renovated 17th-century barn turned small winery, with emphasis on the small outputs. But add a grape-friendly microclimate in the historic Brandywine Valley to a passion for making wine, and you’ve got the recipe for critical acclaim and 30,000 cases being sold all over the East Coast.

Now owning the distinction as the biggest winery in Pennsylvania, the Chaddsford Winery is nestled in the heart of the scenery that painter Andrew Wyeth made famous.
