Have you heard about Canal House? It’s a food and photography studio located in an old newspaper printing office in rural New Jersey, not far from the Delaware River. Owned and operated by Melissa Hamilton and Christopher Hirsheimer, the central product of Canal House has been their series of shockingly lovely cookbooks, released three times per annum for the last two years.
This summer, they’re moving beyond the page to host a Small Holding Festival. On Saturday, July 9 from 11 a.m – 3 p.m., they’ll host workshops on raising bees, making your mozzarella, eating what you grow, keeping chickens at home and building a pizza oven in your backyard. Special guests include Sunset Magazine editor Margo True and her co-authors of The One Block Feast.
